Steven DaLuz

Steven DaLuz is an American painter whose work emerges from a life shaped by movement, service, and a lifelong devotion to art. Born in California and raised in a military family, he spent his early years moving across cultures and landscapes—experiences that sharpened his sensitivity to atmosphere, light, and the emotional resonance of place. During his service in the U.S. Air Force, he completed BA and MA degrees, later earning a BFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where disciplined study deepened his intuitive fascination with luminosity. His studio practice spans figurative realism, abstracted environments, and imaginative realism, unified by an enduring exploration of radiant light. Using metal leaf, pigment, and chemically induced patinas, DaLuz developed a process that makes light feel almost physical, as if glowing from within the surface. Though often linked to Neo‑Luminism, he approaches the label with humility, seeing himself not as a movement’s representative but as a continual student of light and its expressive potential.
