About the Artist:
I have been an artist since I was eight years old when I realized that stars in the night sky were round rather than 5-pointed symbols. I was later told by one of my art instructors that being a visual artist means learning to see things as they are instead of as the symbols that represent them. Since that time I have developed my skills through various formal art instruction and self teaching. I have attended art classes at schools such as University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island School of Design and Dutchess Community College.
While in the Air Force I worked in the Base Graphics Office and served as Staff Artist for the NCO Club at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. After serving my country, I worked as a Graphic Designer for IBM in Kingston, NY.
Since retiring, I have developed my watercolor, acrylic and oil painting skills and taught watercolor painting at Hobby Lobby. My paintings of Egrets, Turtles, Waves, Cardinals, Boats, Marshes, Lighthouses, Hummingbirds and Parrots have been on display at Jewelry by Wendy Gallery in Calabash, NC where I also teach group and private art classes. In addition, I also teach private art classes at my Studio in Supply, NC.
I have a thriving portrait business creating beautiful portraits in Graphite, Acrylics and Oils of client’s loved ones and pets.
I have exhibited and received awards at WAA Art Shows, the Georgetown Plein Aire Festival and Brunswick Senior games art exhibit.
I am a member of the Waterway Art Association in Calabash, NC.
